These 'EDINBURGH' bricks were made in the 1930s/1940s by the Edinburgh Collieries Company Limited at Wallyford Brickworks.​  After the UK coal industry was nationalised in 1947, the company ceased to exist and ownership of the brickworks passed to the National Coal Board. At that point, the “EDINBURGH” brick stamp was permanently discontinued.
