The Lucky Swallow is a joyful collaboration between interior designer Anna Campbell-Jones and Ally Mitchell, an award-winning former commercial diver turned ocean-plastic pioneer. Designed in Scotland and made entirely from recycled beach plastic, each swallow gives waste new wings.
Inspired by Anna’s tattoos and a small cast metal bird she found at a church fête over 40 years ago, the swallows reimagine a nostalgic motif for today. Long associated with hope, homecoming and resilience, they echo the flying ducks of old while tackling the very modern problem of marine pollution.
Each swallow is made from broken fish boxes collected during beach cleans around Scotland. The plastic is washed, shredded and moulded locally, with the final colour coming directly from the original box — meaning every piece is unique. Hand-finished, featherlight and easy to fix with Blu Tack or sticky pads, they can be hung individually or arranged in colourful flocks.
Perfect for hallways, bathrooms or gallery walls, Lucky Swallows are decorative, sustainable and full of meaning — proof that something worth treasuring can come from waste.
