Antique, Itslian, olive wood stool with painted swallows and ‘San Remo’ on the top.  Dates to the early part of the 20th century. Some slight wear to the painted swallows. 
In Italy, many still believe that swallows bring good fortune. Their presence is seen as a blessing. Having a nest under your roof is believed to be a sign of a healthy home and good luck.
